If there’s one person that has a penchant for delicious, gourmet meal, that’s mom. For someone who cooks up a meticulous meal for the family, it’s no wonder why she has discerning taste buds. With this, there’s surely no other venue where she can indulge and celebrate her love for good food other than Marriott Café. Bring the whole family for Sunday Brunch, where it offers an upscale but a cozy venue to enjoy a promise of bigger, better, and heavier selections for brunch. And not to mention, everything gourmet!

Bo's Coffee - your homegrown, just roasted coffee goodness!

In the past, my loyalty for freshly brewed coffee remained with only two coffee shops. For years, these brands have enticed me with their tasty brews and blends fitting my every mood in any day.

Coffee has served me well, from a quick wake up, a taste of guilty pleasure or just leisurely idling by and sitting, reading a good book, looking at different faces and creating a story on my mind, it helps stir my creative juices. It soothes my soul, relaxes me and brings me to my self imposed happy place.
Coffee is evolutionary, it doesn't stay the same, it changes and moves with the times.
These two coffee shops has given me great service that I never thought to venture out of my safe zone, but today I'm glad I did. Because with it I found another that tickled my tastebuds, let me introduce you the wonderful brews of Bo's Coffee and by the way, it's pure Pinoy!

This coffee shop's promise? HOMEGROWN, JUST ROASTED COFFEE GOODNESS.
Bo's Coffee started out as a small kiosk with six tables inside Ayala Center-Cebu on June 28, 1996. Founder and CEO of Bo's Coffee Steve Benitez, like me, ventured into a business on how to convince the Filipino market to buy specialty coffee when they can make themselves their own coffee.

"Coffee was not a lifestyle yet, it was just a product. There were not a lot of coffee shops, and there were no foreign brands in the market." said Steve Benitez. "Back then, people saw coffee as just a product that they can get for free in their homes, and they get it so cheaply at restaurants. So when we priced our coffee at specialty coffee prices, it [met] some resistance.”

He continues, “For the first three months it was really discouraging. If it was purely treated by me as a business, I think I would have folded that up. But it was really more of a passion, because the coffee experience at Bo’s Coffee isn’t just about the just-roasted freshness of our various brews, it was also about the experience of enjoying quality coffee with the people you love.”

After facing initial setbacks, Benitez’s commitment to providing world-class coffee experience for the Filipino community enabled the company to grow and flourish, and eventually, the community grew to love the brand.

So, Who is Bo?
“I studied the coffee business for two years before starting the company,” Benitez narrates. “In one of the exhibitions I attended in New Orleans, there was a booth by an expert coffee roaster: an American-Italian named Bo. I visited a lot of roasters, but he made an impact on me because he was very, very serious about his coffee. I remember him telling me that he didn’t want to become so big because he wanted to ensure quality. When it was time to put a name into the coffee shop, I felt that he was one of those who influenced me greatly. He stood for quality and passion—that’s why I named it Bo’s Coffee.”

JUST ROASTED -- is Bo's Coffee's tagline. To guarantee the peak level of the freshness of the beans, they make sure that they serve you the coffee after roasting. While it's true that coffee beans expire around six months after roasting, Bo's Coffee serves coffee within a month after the roasting date. Now that's real freshness! And this has got me excited as well, they get their coffee bean supplies locally! From Cavite, Batangas and The Cordilleras! They also make sure that it orders beans only as needed so that stocks are kept fresh. No wonder after sipping my coffee that day, I could truly taste the difference!

And on its 16th year, Bo's Coffee is proud to say that they have 58 stores opened nationwide! Wow, from 6 table coffee kiosk to several coffee shops...now that is something us Filipinos should definitely be proud of! Homegrown, fresh coffee goodness!

And Bo's Coffee has offered their latest selections in their shops:
  • Biscotti Amaretto - Bo's Coffee's summer beverage! It's a fusion of their biscotti + blended coffee + Amaretto syrup crowned with whipped cream drizzled with dark chocolate syrup and crushed biscotti sprinkles. The coffee that made me hooked with Bo's. First sip and it's heaven!

This Biscotti Amaretto is perfect paired with their Super Moist Chocolate Cake!

  • Fillet O' Dory Cream Sandwich - Golden brown, crispy breaded cream dory fish fillet with fresh lettuce in tangy tartar sauce.
  • Fruits and Nuts Trail Mix - yummy and healthy snack everyone will love to nibble with!

Lastly, this has got by surprise. I was staring at their lamps while inside their shop and can't help but to keep admiring it. Though it may be sunny outside, the lamps were emitting a beautiful radiance from it. They may have noticed that I kept admiring the lamps until they revealed that these lamps were designed by internationally-acclaimed and award winning Cebuano Designer, Kenneth Cobonpue! I was like "OMG!"

From the humble beginnings of Steve Benitez to the outstanding success he is experiencing today, his awesome journey is far from finished. Bo's Coffee has indeed made me a fan of theirs, aside from having the freshest roasted coffee in town, they are Proudly Pinoy -- and that's why I'll keep coming back for more! =)

3M Pizza - Pinoy Pizza Forever

The favorite among the set of pizza flavors is the 3MSupreme

Pizza and pasta are two Italian food favorites that have been integrated into the Filipino table fare. But unlike our Mediterranean friends, we like our pizza and pasta sweet and with a hint of spice.

3M Pizza has been well known for its ham and cheese pizza with a crispy thin crust that is smothered with sweet, home-style tomato sauce. For over 43 years now, this pizza has made millions of Filipino pizza lovers happy and satisfied. “We all practically grew up or grew old with it,” said Emmanuel Sun, one of the five co-owners of Three M Golden Pizza Corp.,

3M Pizza Pie was founded by Merle B. Hemedes in 1969 together with her three sisters. A regular pizza lover in New York, she thought of reinventing her pizzas by making a unique sauce that caters to the Filipino palate. To make her “pizza pie” more accessible, she put up a small kiosk outside the family’s toy shop business at Araneta Arcade in Quezon City. It became an instant hit since it was the first time Filipinos ever tasted pizza.

3M Pizza, now under new a management, returns to the market in 2006 with aggressive plans to re-establish itself as the leading quick-serve pizza, pasta and snacks in the country by reinventing the brand and upgrading its image. The new owners streamlined the operations and implemented a semi-automated production process. They also established an R&D team composed of culinary chefs and market analysts who helped the company develop new products and new unique Pinoy pizza line.

With a name that is as strong as ever, a recreated brand logo and store look, better and more exciting pizza and pasta offerings, and aggressive marketing efforts, 3M Pizza is taking the business to the next level—franchising.

With the help of a franchising consultant, the company is offering an exciting food business prospect to budding entrepreneurs that is easy to operate and learn yet profitable to own.

Since 1969, 3M Pizza is characterized by its pizza unique sweet and slightly spicy sauce that caters to the Filipino taste and with a thin crispy crust topped by ham and cheddar cheese. Since then, it has expanded to 7 more flavors—top-billed by best-seller Hawaiian Delight with pineapple and ham, garlic and cheese, Pepperoni Feast, Mushroomania, Gardener's Delight, Beefy Meat Sauce, and 3M Pizza Supreme.  All these toppings are offered in mini (7-inch diameter). Medium (10 inches) and mega (13 inches) sized. In addition, the company now also offers lasagna, spaghetti, 3M Pizza Roll and Cheesedog.

The company also plans to offer new toppings inspired by Filipino dishes, one of which is the spicy Bicol Express. The pasta line will also be expanded to include a new spaghetti sauce with hotdog, as well as baked Mac and “palabok.”

A prototype big store is also in the works that will offer meal packages that include crispy and spicy fried chicken, sago’t gulaman drink and even sweet dessert pizza concoctions.

Churros con Chocolate at Dulcinea

I know I have to write about this when my teeth sank on this bread.
It was like a random shower of childhood memories, flowing back on me when I smelled the inviting aroma and the oily feel of the fried bread waiting for me to take a bite while it's hot. Memories like the time when my Mom first introduced me to this old school treat. I was a gradeschooler then, right just after my classes, my mom picked me up and we went straight to the mall and had some hearty dinner. Little did I know she's taking me in for a surprise treat -- a yummy dessert.

Dulcinea has not been on my favorite list since I was still only a kid then. Usually I would go for the greasy-haven fast food chains rather than those posh restaurants. But when Mom took me to Dulcinea, it made me a different person. It made me realize I have to discover and explore a lot of culinary journey than my favorite fried chickens.

I may be the luckiest kid in the world for having such a sweet Mom, taking me for a special treat that time!
Dulcinea's Churros con Chocolate
Made out of twisted bread and formed into a loop then fried to achieve the desired crunchiness. Churros originally came from the Spanish recipe as a pastry-based snack. Usually they eat it for breakfast and comes with a dipping sauce like chocolate or cafe con leche.

For me, Dulcinea has the best and perfect churros recipe. It may look simple. It may smell simple. It may be cooked as simple as frying. But the taste is extravagant. It's awesome. For just Php98 for a five-piece looped bread matched with Spanish chocolate, you'll never go wrong for this.

The Spanish chocolate has a bittersweet taste. Not too sweet and not too bitter, just the right amount of concoction of whatever they put it in there that made me crazy for this heaven-sent snack. This rich and moist chocolate dipping sauce is the perfect dipping sauce for this kind of bread.

I asked Le boyfriend to try this old school treat my Mom used to make me crave for more and as what I expected, he loved it too! He gave it a two thumbs up, thanking me for this surprise and well, for footing the bill :| nonetheless, this treat goes to our favorite munch list!

Perfect when eaten while it's hot! :)

Jollibee's Chocolate and Coffee Floats - your perfect drink for summer!

Jollibee, one of the largest fast-food chain restaurant in the Philippines, and slowly conquering the world, has once again unveiled their newest product to be sold out in the market!

This has got me excited since this is my first time to be part of a bloggers event for Jollibee and I really cannot contain my excitement since I've known Jollibee ever since childhood days! It's like my taste buds has been friends with them over the years now, like best buddies!
Held at Jollibee-Amang Rodriguez branch, bloggers are in for a surprise! Jollibee has unveiled their newest products: The Chocolate and Coffee Floats!
Enchong Dee not included, sorry. Haha!
Each guest were given a sample of these floats to experience how you'll get a lift after sipping on these refreshments (joke intended). Nevertheless, it was double yummy! The long drive plus the scorching heat of the sun makes it really unbearable to stay long outside. I even feel dehydrated after a few minutes just by walking and not doing anything strenuous! These floats has been a total lifesaver since it gave me the refreshing and rewarding feeling of being cold and cozy inside the restaurant and sipping my cold float.

First one I tried is the Jollibee Coffee Float -- a mode of delightfully smooth iced coffee crowned with rich vanilla soft serve and chocolate swirls.
Ice cream and coffee has contrasting flavors. For me, the sweetness of the ice cream and the strong flavor of the coffee does not balance out, but in overall I would really try it again for a quick perking up especially for a dull day at work -- icy, sweet style (work is near Jollibee, perfect!).

And the Jollibee Chocolate Float -- topped with creamy vanilla soft serve and chocolate syrup on a deliciously rich iced chocolate! Just by typing the description makes me want to drool more for this drink! YES! This is an instant fave for me because of the yummy iced chocolate! The chocolate drink and the ice cream is the coolest combination! I think I found my perfect summer drink, and I'll be ordering more of this in days to come. And the best part? I could easily find this one since Jollibee is almost everywhere! Yummy!

Perfect also with Cheese and Sour-cream fries!
What are you waiting for? Head to your nearest Jollibee stores now and taste the Oh-so-refreshing yumminess of The All New Jollibee Chocolate and Coffee Floats -- and get a lift!

An Easter Carnival at Pan Pacific Manila

"To give thee thanks to Our Lord, our God and creator. A wonderful blessing it has been with you coming into our lives!"

The Holy Week gave us a time to reflect with ourselves on how did we served our Lord over the days that passed our lives. Are we being on the right or wrong path of our journey towards the fulfillment of our goals in life?

The week gave me a time to rekindle with my family though we are living on a same household. Our busy schedules made us miss each other. It is really a good time for us to spend the Holy week together as well as to enliven our spirituality with the Lord. The highlighted day of the week is the Easter Sunday, where Jesus rose again from the dead, saving us from all the sins of the world. A day of celebration and beatitude as we welcome Him again in our lives. Many families flock together for this celebration. It's like having a new life again, to be reborn again together with the Lord.

I was fortunate enough to be invited for an Easter gathering at Pan Pacific Hotel Manila where I witness kids with their parents happily partied the day!

Lineup of games and inflated playgrounds were inside the hotel's ballroom area to make it a wonderful and awesome carnival-themed party!

What made it kid friendly is how the hotel placed the tables in the ballroom: on the floor with pillows around it to sit on! Kids enjoyed running around the hall and even lie on the floor after the exhaustion from playing with their friends.

Lots of fun, games and magic tricks were performed, all for the kids!

Of course, Pan Pacific Hotel topped everything off with their yummy goodies the kids will surely love: spaghetti pasta with tomato sauce, chicken drumsticks and hotdogs on stick. I feel like a kid again munching on these grubs. I found myself wanting for more!

To end the festivity, kids have to search for the hidden Easter eggs around the area and the one who has the most eggs would win two Easter rabbits!
They got their Easter bunnies! Cutie!
Truly a happy way to celebrate Easter is to spend the day with your family! Nothing beats the love, happiness and comfort only with them you can found! :)

Girls just wanna have fun at Club Manila East!

Hooray for SUMMER!!!
The time of the year where almost everyone dares to wear the skimpiest of the skimpiest! From strings, straps, micros and thongs? LOL! The summer heat causes a wave of pure energy and excitement for everyone, never mind the sweat for you could always take a bath or in my case, a dip into the cool pool!

After two years in the making, it has been done! My girls and I decided to push it through for our summer getaway at Club Manila East at the heart of Taytay, Rizal! It has been a long-time dream for us to go to this place for its magnificent pools and waves. Boarding a G-Liner bus around 8 in the morning at Manila City Hall, travel time took only an hour and a half. Enough for us to gossip, laugh, nibble and whatnots. Hey, girls will always be girls! :)

Upon arrival, us girls were very much eager to go inside and would love to jump into the huge pool that will greet you upon entering! It was scorching hot that day so the heat was really unbearable.

After dropping our bags at the cabana, we went first to the most exciting part: the Wave pool!

OK. So it wasn't producing waves though. The pool have a schedule on when to turn on their waves. But look at the size of the pool, it's so big everyone can have lots of room once the waves started! We opted to check other amenities while we wait for the waves to start.

This canoe ride is so awesome! I feel like a pro riding this one, though it's my first time to ride on such! Still, the pool is also large, giving everyone enough space to paddle their boats around.

CME has a zipline as well! For Php150, you can enjoy and view almost the entire resort from up above! Mind you, that zipline is looooong :)

We went back to the wave pools and surprisingly, we discovered that there are TWO HUGE WAVE POOLS PALA! The first one we went too awhile ago was deeper compared to the second one we discovered. Suitable for shorter people, like me. HA!

ME on the left. YES, nalulunod pa din ako kahit mababaw na ang pool :|
After the satisfying feeling that wave pool gave us, we went to the most challenging part of the resort: The 14-FEET DROP. Yes, 14! Jumping from the high cliff is like a jump for life! Scream all the way down after jumping! (Pardon, I don't have a photo of it. Boo!)

Anyways, this is just a short post of our very long day having fun and enjoying the perks of being a girl! Endless laughters, endless nibbling, endless gossiping, endless powder re-touching. Girls will always be girls having fun altogether! :)

Million thanks to Lya, Camille, Debs and Bea's cameras! I was too lazy to take photos myself so I grabbed these photos on my post via their Facebook accounts! :)

Victoria Court is giving back to chosen children

Victoria Court with its humble Directors visited again its chosen children recently . The company has been taking care of the Chosen Children Village since year 2000, that’s 12 years of building cottages, donating basic necessities and giving cash for the operating expenses.

Why Chosen Children? Why support this cause? The special children of this village are very close to their hearts. These children all have very touching stories of how they got to the village and how they cope with their disabilities. Most of these children are products of rape and attempted abortions.

Being born under such a negative light should not dictate how the children will live their life. At this village, they learn to live, to love and to survive.

Attendees of this event include Managing Directors Atticus and Ian King with the CFO Merlie Endaya. Ian’s lovely wife and Philippine Top Model Joey Mead-King was also there to give her love to the kids and President of the Board of Chosen Children Village, Ms. Rosemarie Villareal.

LET'S SAVE THE DEAF-MUTE VICTIMS OF THE SOCIETY

I know this is off-blogging pero my conscience is calling me to reach out to these poor mute victims of the society. This is posted by my friend Debs, where she encountered a horrifying event with a mute girl kidnapped awhile ago. SOMEONE, SOMEBODY AND EVERYONE needs to save the girl! This info may not be that helpful pero for awareness purposes, please I'm reaching out to everyone else.

This is Debs story:

This may not be helpful xe walang plate number. This is just to inform you na laganap pa din ang pandudukot sa mga pipi."

Let us please SAVE AND HELP the Deaf-Mute victims of the society. I'm calling out to everyone's heart to reach out to our leaders!

The Stylistics Live in Manila!

Celebrate the music of best-known Philadelphia soul group of the 1970's!
As That’sNtertainment Productions, in cooperation with ABS-CBN, present THE STYLISTICS Live in Manila happening on April 12, 2012, 8pm at Smart Araneta Coliseum.  Their special guests are Rico J. Puno and Elizabeth Ramsey.

The Stylistics have been recording and touring for almost forty years and enjoyed twelve straight Top 10 hits from 1971-1974. These include their stellar debut "Betcha by Golly, Wow", "Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)", "You Are Everything", "I'm Stone in Love with You", "Break Up to Make Up", and the shimmering sweet soul ballad "You Make Me Feel Brand New". Their early 70s work with producer Thom Bell and his collaborator, lyricist Linda Creed yielded some of the most popular love songs of that era.

Known for their sleek, soulful Philadelphia sound, this quartet has been performing for nearly 40 years and became a worldwide-favorite for their showmanship, harmony and style.  Formed in 1968, The Stylistics was originally comprised lead Russell Thompkins, Jr., Herbie Murrell, Airrion Love, James Smith, and James Dunn. After the original group disbanded in the 80s, Love, Murrell, and Thompkins continued to tour until 2000 and brought in two new members from one set of the Delfonics - Harold Eban Brown as lead singer, and tenor Van Fields who also sang with an a cappella group called A Perfect Blend. In 2011, Fields departed and was replaced with Jason Sharpe (formerly with Heatwave).

In 2008 they recorded their latest album, That Same Way. The new album marks as their first album of new material this century but still filled with sweet soul spirit that initially made The Stylistics famous.Their song, "People Make the World Go Round", was used by Spike Lee in the soundtrack for 1994 film Crooklyn, as performed by Marc Dorsey.

The awesome delight at Chicken Delish!

Last Sunday, I invited my friends to go with me for the annual summer food festivity, The Best Food Forward held at The NBC Tent, The Fort (and million thanks to Nuffnang Philippines for my free tickets!).

While inside, we walked from streamlines of booths with different dishes, desserts and drinks, did some catching up with friends, absorbing the culture and honoring the sales staff that's constantly exclaiming the never tiring line "Free taste mam/sir?" by nibbling on their free samples.

I was really lucky to experience this. They had a large variety of food, from humongous burgers to garlic fries to a cornucopia of sweets. It was like magic for a foodie soul like me. A wonderful food adventure! Like it an instant, the song "Paradise" by Coldplay kept playing in my head as we are walking --- I am serious. LOL

As we are getting more and more excited for trying out desserts. We decided to have our main course, something gratifying for our bottomless pit called tummy. Until this booth caught our eyes:

They create chicken like your mama used to make but with a twist! A modern panache of international & local sauce from Sweet and Spicy, Pinoy barbecue, Sriracha, Pinoy buffalo, Salt and Pepper to the good ol' chicken with gravy! Every bite was simply pleasant.

There's KFC, Mang Inasal and the currently trending Bon Chon.
So why eat here? I'll give you 3 reasons.

First, fried chicken is indispensable in our culture. From birthday parties, weddings, graduations and all sorts of occasions, there's the undying fried chicken present. Chicken Delish took that everyday fried chicken and sprinkled it with pizzazz that suits everyone and anyone form its peerless menu, it's like your taste buds are having a wild college party.

Second, the gourmet taste of not only their chicken but their pasta is to die for as well, its a whole jamboree in a plate.

Third, this soon to rise brand has found a way to bring an incredible culinary experience to the Filipino population by making the common chicken funky fresh fresh again. It brought sexy back poultry style!

I got to pick the brain of Chicken Delish owner-slash-blogger and an incredible cook Miss Annalyn Jusay-Zoglmann. She said that she was serving her gourmet-style fried chicken to her family even before the Bon Chon phenomena took the public.
Miss Annalyn herself!
"Chicken is something every member of my family loves and experimenting on the many ways to cook it was a natural progression of our passion for all things poultry-related. I have to admit that the internet helped me in this regard as I stumbled upon a few recipes and modified them to suit our taste."
"It came to a point that I wasn't just happy serving my chicken at home as I was also pondering my retirement from the corporate jungle and embarking on a business. Am really entrepreneurial by nature and I saw a trend for gourmet fried chicken in the market, not just inasal. I went ahead to test my business idea in the Soderno Sunday market last year and after its initial success with the weekend crowd, an opportunity came for me to open a stand-alone store at the Caltex Gas station in Better Living, Paranaque City. I've also been joining bazaars like the Midnight Mercato in the Fort to gain further exposure for my product," --- says AJ.

Another thing is that the flavorful empire is still under construction, she is still finding ways to reconstruct and invent new and savory sauces for her fried chicken!

Her bestsellers are the sweet and spicy sauce, Pinoy barbecue which excites the palate with it's garlicky taste and Sriracha that kinda taste like Chinese sweet and sour sauce.

Sometimes there are some customers that would ask for the traditional buffalo wings so the ever flexible Chicken Delish would oblige, they have a bottle always ready partnered with blue cheese dressing.
The adventure has been entirely magnificent for Miss AJ who is totally a foodie by heart. She says -- "It is my dream to open more stores and then perhaps I can fulfill my wish to retire from my 9 to 5 job. Am glad to say that I've had a customer who's eaten our fried chicken with sauce everyday for the last two months. It is quite addicting!"

Chicken Delish epitomizes the future of fried chicken, they are adventurous and they create a brand new way of experiencing the delight in eating fried chicken that we all know and love. Eating here with my friends has made my day totally awesome, it was really fun making this new discovery!

Four-piece chicken wings cost only P90 while two-piece drumsticks are at P120.
